- Beth
HaTephila has a membership of over 275 family units. We are part
of the URJ Mid-Atlantic Council headquartered in Washington, DC.
- There
are more than 650 Jewish families in the greater Asheville area,
making up a total of over 1000 people... and growing.
- Asheville
is the smallest community in the United States with its own Jewish
Community Center. The JCC was established in 1938. It was completely
rebuilt in 1994, including an olympic-size swimming pool.
- Asheville
also has an active Conservative congregation, and nearby a
small Reform congregation in Hendersonville, North Carolina, located
30 miles south of Asheville.
- The
Center for Jewish Studies at UNCA is a part of the University
and a part of the Community. It draws on the resources of both,
provides services and programming for both, and brings the people
of the university and the larger community together intellectually
and spiritually.
-
HADASSAH, the Women's Zionist Organization of America, is a volunteer
women's organization whose members are motivated and inspired
to strengthen their partnership with Israel, ensure Jewish continuity,
and realize their potential as a dynamic force in American society.
There is a very active Hadassah group in Asheville.
