Homelessness

CBHT actively supports the following collaborative efforts to reduce homelessness in our community:

  • Hope to Home (http://www.hbofa.org/programs/hope-to-home) is a Homeward Bound program to move the homeless to permanent housing.  Members of the congregation serve on interfaith teams to provide support to those who are in transition.  Each team member commits to one year as a team member. The congregation has also provided funding and household goods and supplies for independent living to the participants in the program.
  • Room in the Inn (http://www.hbofa.org/programs/room-in-the-inn) is a Homeward Bound program to provide temporary shelter to homeless women in our community.  Our congregation partners with members of St. Mary’s Episcopal and St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. The three congregations work together to provide shelter, meals and friendship to upwards of 12 homeless women during two different weeks of the year.
  • Homefree Bagels – a project to make and sell bagels made by participants in the program. The congregation has purchased the bagels for breakfast events and has met program participants.
